I have a friend who has a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. She has to drive through a lot of tough terrains on a regular basis, but her jeep wasn’t lifted.
As I own an auto repair shop and know the benefits of installing a lift kit, I suggested she get her Jeep Wrangler Unlimited lifted.
She was delighted with the results after she consulted with me and got the right lift kit installed in her jeep.
The ground clearance of her jeep improved a lot. So she didn’t have much trouble navigating through tough terrain like she used to.
She got bigger tires!
This is what happens when you lift your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. You get to install larger tires, and this can help with traction, which allows for better ride quality.
So today, I’ll talk about the best lift kits for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited you can get installed for better ground clearance and more.
You can’t install just about any lift kit to your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. So you have to look for one with the right compatibility with your jeep.
Even if you find compatible lift kits, there are going to be too many options in stores. And this may put you in a confused state as you might not be able to decide which to get.
I know the dilemma!
This is because I have had multiple clients asking me the same question. Every one of them wanted the best quality for the best price.
And I’ve got a list!
This list includes all the best and most affordable lift kits specifically made to work with the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. So without further ado, let me get right into it!
1. MotoFab 3″ Front 3″ Rear Full Lift Kit– My First Choice
In my opinion, This 3-inch front and rear lift kit from MotoFab is the best lift kit for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited,
Why am I convinced?
This is because it’s the lift kit I suggested recently to the friend I mentioned earlier. And he has only benefited from the performance of this lift kit.
Plus, the MotoFab brand is a very reputed brand I have always been able to put my trust in. I can assure you about doing the same.
What does it do?
The kit uses two front coil spacers and two rear coil spacers to lift both the front and the rear end of the jeep 3 inches higher.
These coil spring spacers need to be attached to the struts of the suspension of your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
That’s how it lifts!
And this lift kit also comes with two front shock extenders and two rear shock extenders.
These shock extenders help correct the angle of your shock absorbers to make them more efficient in absorbing the bumps on the road.
So your vehicle will be able to easily get past most of the bumps without having to feel them. Meaning a smoother ride on rough terrains!
When a jeep is lifted, the brake lines of the jeep are exposed to a lot of pressure, which is not good for them at all.
But this lift kit comes with brake line brackets for both the front and rear to take the pressure off by supporting the brake lines.
You get free hardware!
Yes, you will find all the hardware you would need to install this lift kit to your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
Plus, all the units of this lift kit are made out of high-grade steel. And the manufacturers use CNC machines to make the units out of steel.
So you get more durability!
You will be able to install really big tires because of this 3-inch lift kit, which can go up to 35 inches big.
And the installation is easy, as you only need to attack the bolts this kit comes with to their rightful places.
My Opinion: I absolutely recommend you use this lift kit on your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited if you want a 3-inch lift. And this one is also really affordable for those with a tight budget.
2. TeraFlex Leveling Lift Kit– My Second Best Choice
The affordable 2-inch front and 1-inch rear lift kit from TeraFlex is one of the best riding lift kits for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
It’s really cheap compared to other products from the TeraFlex brand. And this brand has a good reputation for supplying its customers with high-quality products.
Plus, when it comes to a good lift kit, it is usually a lot more expensive than this one. And you will learn soon when I introduce you to other TeraFlex lift kits.
Leveling and lifting!
Yes! You won’t only get to lift your jeep with this kit, but you will also get a more leveled jeep when you install this leveling lift kit.
So if your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is sagging on the front like all factory jeeps and you don’t usually carry loads in the back, you will benefit from leveling your jeep.
How does it do that?
This leveling lift kit uses coil spring spacers to lift 1 inch on the front, so your vehicle gets leveled.
And then, it lifts the front further another 1 inch while leveling the rear 1 inch to raise the entire vehicle 1 inch off the ground.
So you get a total of 2-inch lift on the front and a 1-inch lift on the rear end of your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
Front sway bar links too!
Yes, this leveling lift kit also comes with a pair of front sway bar links for a more efficient and durable jeep experience.
What are they?
Sway bar links are components of the suspension that attach the sway bar of your vehicle to the suspension.
And if you lift your jeep, the sway bar will be put under a lot of pressure because of over-rotation.
So when you use the factory sway bar links even after lifting your jeep, your vehicle might become prone to vulnerability when you ride.
This is why you should use loner sway bar links when you lift your vehicle. Just like the one this kit comes with!
You can install larger tires running up to 305/70 R17 or 305/65 R18!
My Opinion: I highly recommend you buy this leveling lift kit if you want both a leveled and lifted jeep. And if you want better sway bar links, this is the one for you!
3. KSP 3″Front and 3″ Rear Full Suspension Lift Kits
This next 3-inch suspension lift kit from KSP is one of the best 3″ lift kits for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited because of its quality and price.
It’s the cheapest!
Yes, this 3-inch lift kit comes with parts made out of sturdy materials while being the most budget-friendly kit on the list.
It comes with coil spring spacers for lifting both the front and the back of your jeep an entire 3 inches.
What does it consist of?
And these coil spring spacers are made out of carbon steel, which is heavy-duty. These spacers will need to be hooked on the struts of your suspension to make the lift possible.
Plus, you even get high-strength bolts out of this lift kit!
And you will also get two shock extenders for the front and two more for the rear to get the angle of your shock absorbers improved.
All these and more!
There are four brake line brackets for the front and rear end of your suspension to provide support to your brake lines.
Moreover, all the parts of this 3-inch suspension lift kit are powder-coated in black to keep the parts safe from rust and corrosion.
Most models of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited are compatible with this 3-inch lift kit. To be specific, this kit will fit the 2007 to 2018 versions of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
So if you drive a hunk of a jeep of one of these models, you won’t have to worry about this kit fitting your vehicle.
What about installation?
Installing this suspension lift kit is pretty easy. You can do it yourself if you have even a little bit of experience in getting your hands dirty!
Takes about 2 to 3 hours to do it!
Just put the bolts on where they are supposed to go, and you’re done. You get all the hardware and even washers you need to install this kit, but you should also use a coil spring compressor.
Up to 35-inch tires!
You might face a rub problem, but I recommend you buy two pads block because they will solve this issue.
My Opinion: If you are looking for an affordable suspension lift kit that’ll raise your jeep 3 inches, you should think about getting this product.
4. TeraFlex JKU 2. 5” Lift Kit w/ 9550 VSS Shock Absorbers
The 2.5-inch lift kit from TeraFlex is a great lift kit. And it doesn’t use spacers to lift your vehicle like the other ones.
Instead, this 2.5-inch lift kit actually uses coil springs to lift and get the same benefits you would expect from your lift kit.
Yes, I’m bringing up another product from TeraFlex! This is because this brand does produce outstanding lift kits.
Here’s the thing!
With a Coilover lift kit like this one, you will get a stiffer vehicle. This means your vehicle will shake and roll less compared to using a suspension lift kit.
So if this is what you are looking for while getting a lift that enhances the look of your jeep, you should consider this Coilover lift kit.
What comes with it?
This Coilover lift kit comes with four coil springs. These springs sit near the wheels and the passenger seat area, raising your vehicle 2.5 inches.
It also has four shocks, which you will need to replace your old ones with, as your old shocks will not be able to handle the new changes.
To make sure your vehicle doesn’t roll as much, this kit gives you sway bar links to attach between the suspension components and the sway bars.
This added lift will offset the geometry of your jeep. And to correct this geometry, this kit comes with heavy-duty track bar brackets for your vehicle’s rear end.
To keep your vehicle’s coil springs from being too compressed, you will also get a bump stop extension with this kit.
And you will also get the necessary hardware you need for installation!
Plus, this one is made specifically for the 4-door Jeep Wrangler!
What about wheel sizes?
You can fit wheels up to the size of 35 inches after installing this 2.5-inch lift kit. This will give you more traction on the road.
However, you might have to use exhaust spacers or other components to get better driveshaft clearance for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited models over 2012.
My Opinion: If you are looking for a Coilover lift kit and you are willing to pay the heavy price of such lift kits, you should consider buying this lift kit.
5. Rough Country 2.5″ Series II Lift Kit
The 2.5-inch lift kit from Rough Country is one of the most affordable lift kits for your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
Rough Country is an extremely well-known and well-reputed brand for producing fantastic high-quality aftermarket components while being really affordable.
It’s an amazing deal!
With just a 2.5-inch lift, this lift kit will give your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited an awesome appearance. And you’re bound to love the new look!
The front coil spring spacers this kit comes with are 2.5 inches, while the rear coil-spring spacers measure 2 inches.
And the boost these spacers give your vehicle is unbelievable!
The added ride height will increase the ground clearance of your jeep, making it run smoother on bumpy roads and even rough off-road terrains.
You can even fit larger tires that go up to 35 inches big. And these bigger tires will help give your jeep more traction for better performance.
And the design?
Oh, I have to tell you about the design, which makes your vehicle more efficient!
This kit is designed in a way to make sure your coil springs don’t move when you face intense articulation with its spring retention design.
And this lift kit also comes with track bar brackets for the rear end of your jeep to center your jeep’s rear axle better.
Installation is easy!
With a bolt-on installation system, all you need to do is attach the bolts this kit comes with, and you’ll be done within a few short hours.
However, like the last TeraFlex lift kit, installing this kit on 2012 to 2018 models of a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will require modifications of the exhaust for better driveshaft clearance.
My Opinion: This 2.5-inch lift kit is one that will stand the test of time. So you should consider buying this kit if you want a 2.5-inch lift on your jeep.
6. Rough Country 2.5″ Lift Kit for Wrangler Unlimited
The brand Rough Country is actually really good. So I’m coming out with another 2.5-inch lift kit for your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited from the same brand.
There’s a but!
This 2.5-inch lift kit is actually a Coilover lift kit like the last TeraFlex one. But the best part about this one is its price!
Compared to the TeraFlex one, this 2.5-inch lift kit is very affordable! It’s actually a couple of hundred dollars less!
Isn’t that great?
This Coilover lift kit comes with a set of amazing coil springs for both the front and the rear end of your jeep to lift a full 2.5 inches off the ground.
And these coil springs give your jeep more stability against different circumstances where your jeep could roll or shake.
Meaning you can have better off-road experiences!
Plus, you can expect good factory ride quality from these coil springs, as they are factory-tuned based on your factory-issued OE spring rates.
You should know a coilover lift kit needs to have shock absorbers to maintain the efficiency of your vehicle.
So this 2.5-inch lift kit also comes with phenomenal shock absorbers. These shock absorbers are made out of nitrogen-charged N3 materials.
Meaning the shocks will live up to the Rough Country standards with better durability, as N# shocks are their specialty.
The shocks have a fast-cooling shock body of 54 mm and a heavy-duty spring-loaded piston rod of 18 mm for even more durability.
And for a longer lifespan, these shocks can provide as much as 35 kN tensile strength, which can easily dampen vibration.
Plus, the kit also has bushings made out of natural rubber as an added feature. All of this with metallic paint in silver to make the appearance stand out!
My Opinion: If you want a coilover lift kit, which not only lifts your jeep to give you most of the benefits of a lift kit but is also really affordable, you should buy this product.
7. TeraFlex Lift Kit with All (4) 2.5″ Shocks (2.5″)
The next 2.5-inch lift kit from TeraFlex is not really different from the last TeraFlex lift kit I talked about.
For a 2-door Wrangler!
Yes, this is the real difference between these two 2.5-inch lift kits. The other one was meant to fit the 4-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. But this one fits the 2-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
Other than this, there is actually no other difference between these two coilover lift kits, as they both have similar parts.
Behind the passenger and driver’s seats, this space is measured using cubic feet. And it’s called cargo volume.
Why am I saying this?
This is just to give you an idea about the 2-door and 4-door jeep, as the 4-door has a higher cargo volume than the 2-door.
And this matters because the sizes of the parts of this 2.5-inch Coilover lift kit vary from the other one to fit the 2-door jeep.
So this lift kit also comes with 2.5 inches of lift coil springs to raise the jeep and four 9550 VSS shock absorbers for better ride quality.
And this one also consists of track bar brackets for the rear to make the angle of the jeep’s geometry correct.
Also, it has a bump stop extension to prevent too much pressure from falling on the coil springs, along with the right hardware for easy installation.
My Opinion: As I recommended the other TeraFlex lift kit for 4-door jeeps, I also recommend this lift kit if you want a coilover lift kit for your 2-door Wrangler. Just remember, you should be willing to spare a few bucks to buy this one.
Common Questions About Wrangler Unlimited Lift kit
What’s a good size lift for a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited?
It really depends on the rider of the Jeep Wrangler.
Some want a 3-inch lift kit to get their jeep raised to a significant amount of height, while some are okay with a 2.5-inch lift kit.
I recommend going with a 3-inch lift kit, as it will generate the most benefits, such as better ground clearance.
But it’s still up to you!
Does lifting a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited cause problems?
There is a possibility of a lift kit causing problems for your jeep.
The suspension of your jeep can easily wear out prematurely, especially the ball joints, if you do not use the right lift kit of high-quality.
And the biggest reason for suffering from this problem can be because of not using the right lift kit, which is not compatible with your jeep’s model.
It depends on the specific lift kit you are using whether you can or not use tires the size of 35 inches.
Some lift kits raise your jeep 2.5 inches higher, and still, you can fit 35-inch tires. Other than that, you might need to install a 3-inch lift kit to fit 35-inch tires.
Yes, you can fit tires of the size 35 inches if you install a 3-inch lift kit.
A 3-inch lift kit will raise your jeep 3 inches higher from the ground and increase the ground clearance.
This will, in turn, increase the wheel wells enough so you can fit 35-inch tires on your jeep.
Yes, actually! You could fit 35-inch tires on a 2-inch lift kit.
However, you should add the length to your bump stops if you want your jeep to be able to use 35-inch tires after installing a 2-inch lift kit.
